Brothers,

I just sent off 9 checks totaling $1,000 to the  Foundation Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, Inc., in Indianapolis, IN, for deposit to the Gamma Lambda Chapter's Chapter Specific Scholarship Fund ("CSSF").

Thank you to those Brothers and Beth Politi for  your generous contributions and annual show of support. There is still time to contribute. While the  recommended donation is $100.00 annually, any amount lower or greater, (obviously, one of the above checks was from a Brother for $200.), is appreciated and gratefully accepted. If any of you have already contributed "on-line" please let me know, so I can keep the accounting reconciled.

Checks should be made payable to the : "Foundation Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, Inc." In the memo section, please write: "Gamma Lambda CSSF."

Please send the checks to me at the address below, and I will batch them and send them off to the IHQ at the end of the  month. Because the Foundation Chapter is an IRS Code  501(c)(3) charitable organization, your donations are tax-deductible

Have a great weekend, everyone, and thank you for  your continued generous support.

Fraternally,
Jim

Hello Brothers,

It is April and time for our annual Gamma Lambda Chapter Specific Scholarship Fund ("CSSF") solicitation. As of March 31, 2008, the total amount in our CSSF account is $14,132.22. We have not awarded any scholarships to date, preferring to let the principal and earnings grow the fund.

As many of you know, the Chapter has seen better days. I will be in Denver next Wednesday and will meet with the Chapter and the Pledges (New Members) in the early evening on campus. I may also do a mini-Rush ("Recruitment") school, while I am there. I have asked Brothers Murphy, Wolper and Schroeder to help. Unfortunately, Jim Murphy will be out of town and I have not heard from Tim or Bob yet. I am in Denver for a variety of things and will not return to Steamboat until either Friday evening or Saturday. I will get a report out to all of you the following week.

I know a lot of you were willing to write a check to help the Chapter when we got word of the situation there a few weeks ago. I recommended holding off sending a check until I could assess the situation and review a plan and budget from our undergraduate Brothers and the Alumni operating the GLAC. Nonetheless, the annual CSSF solicitation should go forward. It might help our undergraduates in Rush/Recruitment, if they could say to potential Pledges/New members that the alumni created a scholarship fund years ago and it has steadily grown over the years. Initiates are eligible to apply. Last year 17 Brothers gave $1,700 in response to this appeal. The year before, 2006, 16 Brothers gave $1,535.00. As you can readily calculate, I ask for a $100.00 annual donation, though more is welcome. Please make your check payable to: "Foundation Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, Inc." and in the memo section place: "Gamma Lambda CSSF." Your donation is tax deductible.

Send the checks to me at the following address:
    Jim Moylan
    P.O. Box 773506
    Steamboat Springs, CO. 80477-3506

I will collect the checks and when I get a batch, I will forward them to the IHQ. Please try to have your tax deductible checks to me as soon as possible, but please no later than May 30, 2008. That way they will be acknowledged in this fiscal year for the Fraternity

Brothers, thank you for your anticipated participation and support. Look for an e-mail from me the week of April 28, 2008, on the state of our beloved Gamma Lambda Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity at the University of Denver.

Fraternally,
JJ
